The advantages of LPG Fuel Systems are vast and include a 35% reduction in diesel consumption, a 10% reduction in noise pollution and a 48% reduction in Greenhouse Gas Emissions.
With the benefits listed above it is great to hear that Total Produce, one of the world’s largest fresh produce providers are converting a fleet of eight 40ft. lorries from conventional diesel fuelled vehicles to LPG/Diesel Dual Fuel. One of the first Irish agri-businesses to convert to this cleaner fuel system.
This move is especially exciting as BIO LPG Autogas will be introduced in the UK and Ireland by Calor in July 2017. A move that will have immediate and dramatic progress in environmental terms.
Speaking about the investment the Managing Director of Total Produce Ireland, Des McCoy said: “As Ireland’s largest fresh produce provider, we in Total Produce are committed to minimising our impact on the environment. I know that this is a conviction that we share with our Grá group of local growers across the island, so it is particularly appropriate that the introduction of these vehicles coincides with the launch of the Grá range of local fruits & vegetables nationally.”
